Their Holinesses Perform Vijaya Yatra

Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji performed the Viswaroopa Yatra this evening.

The Viswaroopa Yatra is performed on the Bhadrapada Poornima day (on 30 September this year), signifying the conclusion of the Chaturmasya Vratam beginning with the Vyasa Pooja on the Ashada Poornima day. Yatra danam was performed at Shrimatham after which, Their Holinesses proceeded on the Vishvaroopa Yatra. At the main entrance of the Srimatam, Sri Adi SankaraBhagavadpada’s Utsava Vigraham from the Sri Kamakshi Amman temple in a procession, was worshipped by their Holinesses and the assembled gathering whereupon the procession started, accompanied by elephants and dundubhi vadyam, and proceeded  towards East first and then towards North, in the direction of the Ellai Amman temple, situated near the new Kanchi Railway Station, and forming the Northern perimeter of the Kanchipuram City.

After crossing the railway line, the procession entered Indranagar. The community hall was chosen as the venue for assembling of the members of the  procession.  Both Holinesses were given traditional reception with poornakumbham.
Lord Krishna was invoked with the Shloka

and Sri Krishna Pooja was performed.

After this, the XI Chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Gita was chanted, as per customs. Important verses were repeated by the assembled gathering. Reading of the Gita chapter over,  there was deepa Aradhana for Lord Krishna, followed by distribution of Prasadam to every one.  With the Vishvaroopa Yatra over thus, both Holinesses  returned to Shrimatham.
